As part of the Village Plan, a small group met, gathering together historical information about Fringford and the surrounding area. The initial intention was to provide two permanent displays in the Chinnery Room in the Village Hall, along with a series of changing displays marking specific historic events.
The key themes are:
a) Permanent historical display of the village at the time of author Flora Thompson.
b) Permanent display of maps of Fringford, complemented with annotated old and new pictures of the village.
c)Temporary displays have covered: World War 1, a History of the Addington family, and the Village Through Time since the Romans. A new display will be launched on 19th September 2026, to mark the 150th anniversary of author Flora Thompson, who lived and worked at the village post office in the late 1890s.
We welcome newcomers, suggestions or contributions (pictures, family histories, village information etc)
